Quảng Ngãi industrial growth highlighted by Deputy PM
During a working session in Quảng Ngãi, Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc emphasized the need to optimize transport infrastructure and strengthen the connection between Dung Quất and Chu Lai. The visit coincided with the 30th anniversary of the Dung Quất Economic Zone and Industrial Zones Management Board.
Over the past three decades, the Dung Quất Economic Zone has evolved into a major industrial hub for Central Vietnam. The region has attracted over 440 projects with a total registered capital of nearly $20 billion, including 63 FDI projects totaling over $2.5 billion. Key industries include petrochemicals, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and logistics. Notable contributors include the Dung Quất Refinery, which has contributed over $10 billion to the state budget, and Hoa Phat Group’s steel complexes, which represent an investment of approximately $7.47 billion.
Economic reports for the first half of 2026 indicate that Quảng Ngãi’s GRDP reached an estimated 74,382 billion VND, an 8.55% increase compared to the previous year. Industrial production remains a primary driver, with the industrial production index rising 14.1% over seven months. Specifically, steel production saw a significant increase of 57.6%, while petrochemical products grew by 6.5%.
