Quang Ninh province mobilises cleanup after Storm No.1

Heavy rains and strong winds from Storm No.1 struck Quang Ninh province on July 5, 2026, causing extensive damage to trees, infrastructure, housing and aquaculture farms but no loss of life. Local authorities activated a 24‑hour response, moving eight households (21 people) from flooded areas, repairing damaged power lines, and clearing hundreds of fallen trees and collapsed advertising boards.

In the Trà Cổ National Tourism Zone, the storm felled dozens of ancient dipterocarp trees and devastated coastal roads, roofs and sea‑defence structures. Resident Nguyễn Văn Hòa, 62, lamented, "I have lived here for over half a century and have never seen a storm this fierce. The forest was ripped apart in one night." The provincial government launched a three‑day intensive clean‑up, involving police, soldiers, local officials and volunteers to remove debris, restore drainage, and prevent disease outbreaks.

Recovery efforts also focused on the aquaculture sector, with about 800 ha of farms flooded and dozens of oyster rafts damaged. Repair work on the 110‑kV transmission line and street lighting is ongoing as power is gradually restored across the affected wards.
