Quảng Ninh court sentences woman to 17 years for 11.69 billion VND real estate fraud

The Quảng Ninh Provincial People's Court has sentenced Nguyễn Thị Hường to 17 years in prison for “fraudulent appropriation of property.” Hường used deceptive information regarding land plots to solicit capital from 13 victims, totaling approximately 11.69 billion VND.

Operating through social media groups, Hường claimed she could facilitate real estate transactions at below-market prices, promising investors returns of 10% to 18% within three to six months. To build trust, she provided fraudulent land use certificates and signed capital contribution agreements. Instead of executing the promised transactions, she used the funds to settle personal debts and cover living expenses. One victim from Hanoi was reported to have lost 4.8 billion VND.
