Qusra: Palestinian families besieged by Israeli settlers in West Bank

Palestinian families in the village of Qusra, located in the occupied West Bank, have been under siege by Israeli settlers since Sunday, August 9. The settlers reportedly blocked roads with boulders, pitched tents near homes, and severed water and electricity supplies, leaving residents with dwindling food and medical resources.

In response to the situation, the Israeli military deployed vehicles and a bulldozer to the area. While the military stated its intention was to protect residents and remove illegal outposts, the operation resulted in several Palestinian households being told to evacuate. Some residents reported that the military used vacated homes as barracks and declared the village a closed military zone.

During the intervention, witnesses observed Israeli security forces praying with settlers upon arrival. Despite attempts by the military to dismantle settler tents using sound grenades and pepper spray, many settlers remained in the area. US Ambassador Mike Huckabee criticized the actions, describing the settlers involved as ‘Israeli terrorists’ and calling their behavior ‘disgusting’ and ‘brutal’.
