Rachel Furtado honored with tree planting in Brasília

Friends and family of triathlete Rachel Furtado gathered at Parque da Cidade in Brasília to plant an ipê tree in her memory. The tribute took place at one of the athlete's favorite locations within the park.

Furtado, 46, passed away on September 12 after suffering a sudden cardiopulmonary arrest while running. Although the Military Firefighters Corps of the Federal District (CBMDF) performed resuscitation maneuvers and stabilized her vital signs before transporting her to the hospital, she did not survive.

In addition to being an athlete, Furtado served as the director of Instituto Feliciência. Known for her discipline and optimism, she had been active in various sports, including swimming, running, weightlifting, and footvolley, since childhood.
