Racibórz seniors honored with 50‑year marriage medals by Polish President

On 2 July, the city of Racibórz held a ceremony at the Palace of Weddings to recognize eight couples who have celebrated 50 years of marriage. Each couple received a Medal for Long‑Term Marriage presented by the President of Poland, with the mayor, Jacek Wojciechowicz, praising the seniors as role models for the community. The event was also attended by the Silesian vice‑voivode and featured personal anecdotes from the couples, who described how love, mutual understanding and shared work helped sustain their unions.

The honored couples, many of whom have lived in Racibórz for decades, shared stories of meeting at workplaces, during community gatherings or at local festivals. They highlighted values such as punctuality, teamwork, health and faith as the foundation of their lasting relationships. Several of the seniors remain active in local life, participating in cultural groups, municipal councils or sporting activities.

Mayor Wojciechowicz expressed hope that the couples would enjoy another fifty years of health and happiness, emphasizing the importance of long‑term commitment for the town’s social fabric.
