Radio Enlace fined for failing to comply with eviction order

David Pérez, the district president of Hortaleza, has issued a 1,000 euro fine to Radio Enlace, a community radio station, for failing to comply with an eviction order. The order, notified on July 31, requires the station to vacate a 55-square-meter premises in the Canillas neighborhood that was previously granted by the City Council.

Pérez has warned that this coercive fine will increase by an additional 1,000 euros for every week the station remains in the location. The municipal board is also initiating procedures to seek judicial authorization to recover the property if the forced execution does not result in the evacuation.

Radio Enlace, a non-profit station that provides programming for people with disabilities, has appealed the decision. More than 6,500 people have signed a petition in support of the station, which is calling for a transparent public tender to renew the use of the accessible municipal space.
