Radko Sáblík advances to second round of Prague Senate elections

Radko Sáblík, director of the Smíchov Secondary Industrial School and Gymnasium and ODS candidate, has advanced to the second round of the Senate elections for the Prague 5 and 13 district. After securing 27.1 percent of the vote in the first round, Sáblík will face the incumbent senator Václav Láska, who received 32.5 percent.

In a move to consolidate support, the TOP 09 party has announced it will endorse Sáblík in the runoff following the third-place finish of its candidate, Zdeněk Šarapatka. Meanwhile, the ANO party has indicated it does not intend to support any advancing candidates in the Prague electoral districts.

Sáblík, who has directed his school since 2002, is running for the Senate for the first time. He has identified voter turnout in the second round as a primary challenge for his campaign.
