Kraków police form special task force after fatal beating in Nowa Huta
A special police task force, including members from the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Central Bureau of Cybercrime, has been formed to investigate the fatal beating of a 36-year-old man in Kraków’s Nowa Huta district. The victim, a Hutnik Kraków supporter known as “Yankes,” died in an ambulance following an attack on the Willowe estate during the night of August 20-21.
Investigators believe the attack is linked to hooliganism and rival football fan groups. While police have identified all participants in the assault, they are currently working to locate them. Two individuals, including one minor, have been detained in connection with the case. Reports indicate that three suspects may have fled the country and are believed to be hiding in southern Europe.
In a separate incident in Radom, a 34-year-old man from Lublin has been charged with committing violence and threats based on discriminatory motives. The incident occurred on August 2, when the man allegedly confronted three Ukrainian citizens regarding the Volhynia massacre, leading to a physical assault involving approximately eight men. The suspect has admitted to the charges.
