Zondacrypto scandal: Rafał Zaorski and others arrested in major investigation

Polish authorities have launched a major investigation into the Zondacrypto cryptocurrency exchange scandal, which has been linked to the disappearance of BitBay founder Sylwester Suszek. Several high-profile arrests have been made, including investor Rafał Zaorski, who faces charges of misappropriating 1.7 million PLN belonging to BB Trade Estonia, the operator of Zondacrypto.

Other detainees include Anna P. and Jaromira W., who are accused of participating in an organized criminal group intended to seize Suszek's assets. Additionally, Radosław Piesiewicz, President of the Polish Olympic Committee, was arrested on charges of providing paid protection and acting in the interest of certain Zondacrypto creditors. Authorities have also conducted searches at the headquarters of the Polish Olympic Committee and the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.

Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek indicated that the prosecution is pursuing a hypothesis that Sylwester Suszek may have been murdered. The investigation follows reports that Zondacrypto clients may have lost at least 350 million PLN. The case has drawn significant political attention, involving discussions regarding cryptocurrency market regulations and potential links between business interests and political influence.
