Viktoria Plzeň appoints Radoslav Kováč as new head coach

FC Viktoria Plzeň has appointed Radoslav Kováč as its new head coach, replacing Martin Hyský following a poor start to the season and a 0-3 defeat against Crvena zvezda in the Europa League playoffs.

Kováč, a 46-year-old former Czech international, has signed a contract through the end of the current season with an option for two additional years. He will be joined by assistants David Mikula and Michal Hampl. Kováč faces an immediate challenge in the Europa League second leg against Crvena zvezda, where Plzeň must overturn a three-goal deficit.

Club president Adolf Šádek stated that the decision was driven by the team's direction and playing style, which did not meet the club's ambitions. Kováč expressed his motivation to revitalize the squad and urged fans to support the team during this transition.
