RAF Fairford: Five men arrested in suspected terror plot FAST-MOVING

Five British men in their 20s, residing in London, have been arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act and explosives-related offenses near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. The arrests occurred early Sunday morning following reports of three suspicious white vans near the military airfield, which is also used by the United States Air Force.

The incident triggered a large-scale emergency response, including the deployment of bomb disposal teams and the evacuation of approximately 85 households in the nearby village of Welford. Counter Terrorism Policing is currently investigating multiple lines of inquiry to determine the suspects' motives. Authorities are exploring whether the plot may be linked to Iran, Russia, or non-state militant groups.

The Iranian Embassy in London has categorically rejected and condemned any involvement by Iran, describing the allegations as baseless speculation intended to fuel Iranophobia. Meanwhile, the US Embassy in London has issued a security alert for American citizens in the UK, advising caution near US-associated facilities. The suspects have been released on police bail subject to stringent conditions as the investigation continues.
