Rafina-Picermi students granted special university admission quota

The Greek Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, Sofia Zacharaki, has issued a decision establishing a special admission quota for higher education. This quota applies to candidates from the Municipality of Rafina-Picermi and other regions in Greece that have been affected by natural disasters.

Under this regulation, eligible students from Rafina-Picermi can be admitted to universities, departments, and Higher Theological Academies in excess of the standard number of available seats. The decision follows a formal request submitted by the Mayor of Rafina-Picermi, Dimitra Tseva.

The measure specifically targets final-year students of the 2025-2026 school year and graduates of General and Vocational Lyceums who participated in the June 2026 Panhellenic Examinations. The special quota, which cannot exceed 2% per category of Lyceum (General, Vocational, Daytime, or Evening), will be calculated based on the number of disaster-affected individuals relative to the total number of exam participants. Specific dates for submitting supporting documentation will be determined by a subsequent ministerial decision.
