Greek university admission quotas for disaster-affected-regi
Overview
The Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports has implemented a special university admission policy for the 2026-2027 academic year to assist students from regions impacted by natural disasters.
Initially, the measure was introduced following a request from the Mayor of Rafina-Picermi, establishing a quota for students from that municipality and other disaster-affected areas. This quota allows eligible candidates to be admitted to universities, departments, and Higher Theological Academies in excess of standard enrollment limits. The regulation specifically targets final-year students of the 2025-2026 school year and graduates who participated in the June 2026 Panhellenic Examinations.
The scope of the policy was later clarified to include 12 specific regions. Affected areas include the municipalities of Kropia, West Achaia, Andritsaina-Krestena, Paramythia, Dodoni, Georgios Karaiskakis, Central Tzoumerka, Preveza, Ermionida, Delissia, and Styra, as well as the municipal units of Apollonia, Ellomeni, and Lefkada.
