Rafina‑Pikermi municipal leadership clash and infrastructure protests
In the municipality of Rafina‑Pikermi, local politicians Euaggelos Bournous of “Modern State – Active Citizens” and Andreas Vasilopoulos of “Development Force” announced a joint proposal to form a collective governing body, urging citizens to choose a leader months before elections and emphasizing cooperation over personal agendas.
Residents of the Diōni neighbourhood have lodged a complaint about a large pine tree in the Diōni Sports Center that has been cordoned off with ribbons and plastic barriers for about fifteen days and now concrete obstacles, demanding clarification from municipal authorities about safety risks and requesting prompt removal or information.
At the same time, dockworkers and citizens gathered to protest the increase in ship traffic at Rafina port. Mayor Demetra Tseva warned that “το λιμάνι δεν μπορεί να καλύψει τις Κυκλάδες” (“the port cannot serve the Cyclades”), calling for an immediate review of the port’s capacity and infrastructure.
