Ragusa District 44 receives €199,447 to boost social services

The Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policies allocated €199,446.77 to the Socio‑Sanitary District 44 for the 2025 fiscal year. The grant, issued under Ministerial Decree No. 85 on 3 July 2026, places District 44 second among Sicily’s 55 districts in terms of funding, behind only Palermo. The district, which serves 98,964 residents across Ragusa, Chiaramonte Gulfi, Giarratana, Monterosso Almo and Santa Croce Camerina, currently employs 20.63 full‑time equivalent social workers – a ratio of one worker per 4,797 inhabitants, better than the national minimum of one per 5,000. The ministry aims to improve this to one per 4,000, positioning the district among the most advanced in Italy. An additional reservation of €205,660 for 2026 confirms continued state investment in local social‑service infrastructure.
