Rahul Gandhi supports students protesting NEET paper leaks
Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has expressed strong support for students who protested against alleged NEET paper leaks, praising their courage in demanding accountability from the government. Gandhi shared a video of his interactions with protesters, highlighting their experiences of alleged police brutality and harassment.
Students reported that during protests, police used lathi charges and pellet guns, with some officers allegedly removing nameplates and covering their faces to avoid identification. One student recounted a severe incident where a pellet gun shot caused a significant ear injury requiring surgery. Protesters also alleged they were labeled as ‘traitors’ and faced verbal abuse and online harassment.
In response to these events, Gandhi announced that the ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ event will be held in Pune on August 22. This upcoming session will be held exclusively for female students to provide them a platform to speak, with Gandhi stating, ‘Now, the girls will speak, and the country will listen.’
