Rahul Gandhi condemns removal of activist Sonam Wangchuk from Delhi's Jantar Mantar

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi broke his silence to denounce the police removal of environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk from the Jantar Mantar protest site in Delhi. Wangchuk, who had been on a 21‑day hunger strike, was taken to Safdarjung Hospital after police said his health required intervention and a court order was followed.

Gandhi called the action "wrong" and described the governing party’s core principles as “falsehood and violence.” He also raised broader concerns about paper‑leak scandals, rising education costs and student suicides, linking them to the country's future.

The hospital reported that Wangchuk is in stable condition but remains weak from prolonged fasting and dehydration, requiring continuous monitoring.
