Rahul Gandhi named INDIA bloc's 2029 PM candidate by TN minister

Tamil Nadu Minister P Viswanathan has identified Rahul Gandhi as the “definitive” prime ministerial candidate for the INDIA bloc in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. This declaration serves as a rebuttal to calls from leaders of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to project their chief, Vijay C Joseph, as the alliance's candidate.

TVK leaders have compared Vijay to former Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa, expressing confidence that he will eventually lead the nation. In response, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram noted that while political parties are entitled to their ambitions, national leadership is ultimately determined by the ability to secure a majority in the Lok Sabha.

Chidambaram emphasized that the capacity to form a government depends on reaching the necessary seat threshold, stating that any aspirant must command the numbers required to lead.
