Rai cancels repeats of popular Italian series Capri, sparking fan backlash

Rai announced that the 20‑year‑old drama series *Capri* would return in repeat broadcasts on Rai 1 during the summer schedule. Hours before the planned start, the broadcaster removed the repeats from the lineup and substituted them with lower‑rated daytime programmes such as *Le Stagioni dell'Amore* and *La Porta Magica*.

The sudden change provoked a wave of criticism on social media. Lead actor Kaspar Capparoni first posted an angry Instagram message describing the decision as “embarrassing behaviour” and a “real shame.” He later issued a calmer video apology, saying he regretted the disappointment caused to viewers and that the scheduling choice was beyond his control. The original episodes remain available on the streaming platform RaiPlay, but they will not be shown again on Rai 1.
