Rai programming updates July 2026
Entities: Rai · Sigfrido Ranucci · Raffaella Griggi · Paolo Corsini · Report (Rai 3 investigative program)
Overview
After Stefano De Martino’s viral TikTok on 14 July, Rai confirmed his dual role as host and artistic director of the 2027 Sanremo Festival and announced the removal of the traditional “Nuove Proposte” competition. The new format will merge the Sanremo Giovani winner with the 24 established “Big” artists, a change welcomed by industry figures such as FIMI president Enzo Mazza and praised by veteran singer Rita Pavone.
In the search for a new presenter of the long‑running investigative show “Chi l’ha visto?” following Federica Sciarelli’s departure, Rai narrowed the internal shortlist to four journalists. By 27 July, Raffaella Griggi emerged as the frontrunner, and on 27 July the broadcaster confirmed that she will take over as host from 23 September, reinforcing the programme’s team‑based approach with senior reporters Francesco Paolo Del Re, Chiara Cazzaniga and Veronica Briganti remaining on‑air.
Separately, the internal ethical review of the flagship investigative programme Report progressed after a private voice message by host Sigfrido Ranucci was leaked on 20 July, in which he alleged mafia and Freemasonry influence within Rai. The parliamentary Commissione di Vigilanza debated the matter, and Rai chief executive Giampaolo Rossi activated an ethics committee. On 29 July the Rai Board scheduled a meeting to decide Ranucci’s future, with an ethics‑committee report expected within ten days that will inform senior management’s decision on whether he remains in charge of Report.
