Rai Ethics Committee investigates Report host Sigfrido Ranucci
The Rai Ethics Committee is conducting an investigation into Sigfrido Ranucci, the vice-director and host of the investigative program ‘Report’, regarding potential conflicts of interest and professional conduct.
One primary focus is the 2024 documentary ‘Food for Profit’ by Giulia Innocenzi, which was broadcast on Report. The committee is examining whether private funding for the documentary—specifically from individuals or entities linked to the veganism and alternative protein sectors—influenced the content of the investigation into intensive farming. While Innocenzi has denied any wrongdoing, stating the project received no public funds, the committee is verifying if Ranucci was aware of these financial ties.
Additionally, the committee is investigating Ranucci’s personal relationships with prominent figures to determine if these connections could have influenced the editorial independence of ‘Report’. The internal verification process is reportedly seeking objective evidence to justify potential disciplinary actions, though any formal audit may be subject to approval from the Rome Prosecutor's Office.
