Rai keeps Mara Venier on 'Domenica In' while overhauling summer TV lineup

Italy’s public broadcaster Rai is expected to retain veteran presenter Mara Venier as the host of the long‑running Sunday afternoon show ‘Domenica In’ for the 2026‑2027 season. Recent media reports say Rai has formally invited her to stay, and the network is also considering new co‑hosts such as Tommaso Cerno, Alberto Matano, Pino Strabioli or Bianca Guaccero, although no official list has been released.

At the same time Rai altered its summer schedule, scrapping planned repeats of the drama series ‘Capri’ and substituting them with reruns of shows presented by Venier and by Andrea Delogu. The decision provoked criticism from the ‘Capri’ cast, producer statements calling the cancellation “embarrassing”, and comments from politicians and viewers demanding an explanation.
