Raiffeisen's Addiko Bank Takeover Advances, Bosnia Units Set for Sale to Davor Macura
Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) has continued its voluntary public offer for Addiko Bank AG, with most members of Addiko’s management board selling shares at the RBI price of €26.50 per share. Deputy chairman Johannes Prohsch, however, accepted a higher offer of €37 per share from rival NLB. RBI’s offer has been taken up by 55.58% of shareholders, representing about 10.7 million shares, and the acquisition now awaits final approval from the Austrian competition authority.
In parallel, RBI plans to carve out Addiko’s operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro. The Bosnia and Herzegovina segment – comprising Addiko Bank Sarajevo and Addiko Bank Banja Luka – is slated to be sold to the Serbian Alta Group owned by businessman Davor Macura. The two Bosnian banks together hold roughly 2.4 billion KM in assets, 1.4 billion KM in loans, 1.9 billion KM in deposits and employ 697 staff. The transaction is part of RBI’s restructuring strategy following the takeover.
