Rail disruptions in Munich and Hamburg following accidents
Major disruptions have occurred in German rail networks due to separate incidents in Munich and Hamburg.
In Munich, an emergency medical intervention at the Ostbahnhof station on Wednesday, September 30, caused significant delays and cancellations across the S-Bahn network. The disruption affected lines S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, and S8, with many services forced to operate on split routes or bypass the main line. Deutsche Bahn advised passengers to use U-Bahn or tram services where possible.
In Hamburg, a person was struck by an incoming train at the Feldstraße U-Bahn station. The individual became trapped under the vehicle, prompting a large-scale response from the fire department to perform a rescue and secure the site. U-Bahn traffic on the affected section was completely suspended during the operation. Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
