Transport disruptions in Germany

Overview

In early September 2026, German transport hubs experienced security-related disruptions. At Berlin Brandenburg Airport, a hazardous materials alert involving a woman claiming to carry toxic substances led to a partial evacuation of Terminal 1 and temporary rail service interruptions. Simultaneously, in Hamburg, an abandoned suitcase secured to a pillar at the main station prompted a bomb disposal investigation, though it was found to contain only ordinary items.

Later in the month, disruptions shifted toward medical and accidental incidents. In Munich, an emergency medical intervention at Ostbahnhof station caused widespread delays and cancellations across several S-Bahn lines. In Hamburg, U-Bahn services were suspended following an accident where an individual was struck by a train at the Feldstraße station.
