Railway electrification tender for Heřmanova Huť proceeds after ÚOHS rejection

The Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) has rejected objections filed by Wenea regarding a major tender for the electrification of the railway line from Nýřany to Heřmanova Huť. The dispute primarily concerned technical specifications for cable conduits, with Wenea arguing that the tender lacked sufficient detail regarding alternative systems. However, the ÚOHS found no illegality in the procurement conditions, making the decision legally binding.

The project, managed by Správa železnic, is valued at an estimated 1.666 billion CZK. Notably, the competition has seen a significant drop in costs compared to initial estimates. Five bids were submitted, with the lowest offer coming from the Czech-Bulgarian association Rataela and VDH at 1.051 billion CZK, which is approximately 63% of the maximum allowable price.

In addition to electrification, the project includes the reconstruction of the railway superstructure and technological facilities, as well as the installation of electric heating for selected switches. The line is intended to be remotely controlled from the Central Dispatching Center.
