Czech railway electrification infrastructure projects

Správa železnic is advancing multiple railway electrification projects in the Czech Republic.

In the Nýřany to Heřmanova Huť project, a legal dispute regarding technical specifications for cable conduits was resolved after the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) rejected objections from Wenea. The tender, valued at approximately 1.666 billion CZK, saw a significant cost reduction, with the lowest bid from the Rataela and VDH association reaching roughly 63% of the maximum allowable price. The project includes superstructure reconstruction and the installation of electric heating for switches.

Separately, Správa železnic has issued a tender for the electrification of a 40-kilometer section between Havlíčkův Brod and Hlinsko. This Design & Build project is valued at approximately 1.179 billion CZK and aims to enable electric train operations between Pardubice and Havlíčkův Brod. For segments beyond Hlinsko, battery-powered trains will be used to support zero-emission transport. Construction is slated to begin in early 2028, with completion expected by mid-2029.
