Rain showers bring cooler weather to UAE's Fujairah and Khor Fakkan

Light to moderate rain fell across the eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates on July 3, 2026, affecting the emirates of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan. The showers, driven by seasonal Al Marawih convective clouds over the Hajar Mountains, produced misty, autumn‑like conditions and a noticeable drop in temperature, contrary to forecasts that expected generally clear skies.

The National Center of Meteorology noted that moist air from the Sea of Oman was forced upward by the mountains, forming cumulonimbus clouds that delivered brief but refreshing downpours. Residents reported clearer streets and a brief respite from the intense summer heat, while authorities reminded travelers of potential minor disruptions. Similar rain events had been recorded earlier in June and during a heavier storm in March, illustrating a recurring summer weather pattern for the region.
