Rajasthan ACB arrests court clerk and driver for alleged bribery

The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a Grade-I court clerk and a home guard driver in the Banswara district for their alleged involvement in a bribery case.

According to officials, Rahul Chandel, a driver attached to the Additional Judicial Magistrate, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 on behalf of Sandeep Kumar Nanavati, a reader to the Chief Judicial Magistrate. The bribe was allegedly demanded to ensure that a complainant’s bail would not be cancelled and to prevent conviction in a pending court case.

Investigators noted that the accused had previously accepted Rs 2,000 under the guise of incidental expenses. Following a trap operation on Monday, both individuals were taken into custody. The ACB is currently conducting searches at their residences and registering a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
