Rajasthan boy dies after 39-hour borewell rescue operation
A nine-year-old boy has died following a 39-hour rescue operation after falling into a deep borewell in the Phalodi district of Rajasthan. The child reportedly fell into the open well while playing near the site on Friday afternoon.
The rescue efforts, involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local administration, faced significant technical challenges. Rescuers encountered a large stone lodged approximately 15 to 20 feet above the child, which obstructed the deployment of equipment and prevented the use of cameras to monitor his condition. The borewell was reported to be approximately 1,050 feet deep.
After being pulled from the well, the boy was rushed to a hospital, where medical professionals declared him dead. Local officials, including Rajasthan Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar and MLA Pabbaram Bishnoi, visited the site during the operation.
