Rajasthan High Court Acting CJ denies allegations by Supreme Court Justice

Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, has issued a formal denial against allegations of misconduct made by Supreme Court Justice Sandeep Mehta. Justice Sharma characterized the accusations as baseless and claimed they were motivated by resentment.

The controversy began after Justice Mehta sent several letters to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. In those communications, Justice Mehta alleged maladministration, corruption, nepotism, and favoritism within the Rajasthan High Court. Specifically, he questioned the use of the ‘master of the roster’ authority, alleging that cases were selectively assigned to Justice Sharma’s bench to benefit ‘rich and influential’ litigants.

Justice Mehta further requested the appointment of a Chief Justice from another state to lead the Rajasthan High Court and called for Justice Sharma’s transfer. In response, Justice Sharma stated he has provided supporting evidence to the Chief Justice of India to refute the claims and has requested that the media and legal community exercise patience until the Chief Justice of India delivers a decision.
