Rajasthan Police warns of cyber fraud via fake pornographic apps

The Rajasthan Police Cyber Crime Branch has issued an advisory warning the public about cyber fraud involving fake pornographic Android applications. Criminals use social media platforms such as Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram to circulate obscene advertisements and suspicious links that lead users to phishing websites.

Once users are lured into downloading and installing suspicious APK files, the apps may prompt a secondary package download under the guise of an ‘app update’. These malicious files seek sensitive permissions, including accessibility settings, allowing criminals to gain full control over the mobile device. In some cases, the apps may also install a VPN to route internet traffic through the attackers' servers, enabling them to hijack bank accounts and steal funds.

Specific app names identified in these fraudulent advertisements include ‘Night Play’, ‘Reloop’, ‘Kyss’, ‘Vimo’, ‘Rivo’, ‘Nexo’, and ‘Vixa’. Authorities advise citizens to avoid downloading APK files from unknown sources, refrain from granting accessibility permissions to suspicious apps, and only install software from trusted stores like the Google Play Store.
