Rajasthan repolling ordered in Jaipur and other cities due to EVM glitches

Repolling is underway at several polling booths in Rajasthan following technical malfunctions with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the 2026 Urban Local Body Elections. In Jaipur, five specific booths across Wards 9, 18, 25, and 34 are conducting fresh voting.

The State Election Commission ordered the repolling after determining that the number of un-displayed votes caused by the technical glitches exceeded the victory margin between candidates. This decision followed reviews of reports from district election officials and returning officers.

In addition to Jaipur, the commission has ordered repolling in Jodhpur, Kota, and Suket. For the affected Jaipur booths, voters are being issued new ballot papers, and previous indelible ink marks are being disregarded in favor of fresh application. Voting is scheduled to continue until 6 pm, with the new vote counting set to begin on September 17 at 8 am.
