Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 sees strong advance bookings ahead of release
Indian superstar Rajinikanth is preparing for the October 15 release of Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The actor recently revealed that he declined sequel proposals for his previous hits, Baasha and Petta, due to a general reluctance toward follow-ups. However, he was convinced to return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian after rewatching the first Jailer and identifying narrative threads involving a powerful criminal network and mysterious cargo containers.
Advance bookings for the film have shown significant momentum, with worldwide pre-sales reportedly crossing Rs 20 crore within 24 hours of opening in major markets. While overseas markets have contributed strongly, domestic demand is being driven by Tamil Nadu, particularly Chennai. Some reports note that while overseas sales are robust, domestic pre-booking levels in certain areas have been described as average compared to his previous projects, leading to speculation regarding promotional efforts.
In Andhra Pradesh, the state government has approved a temporary seven-day ticket price hike for the film's opening week. Additionally, Rajinikanth expressed his desire to see actress Tamannaah Bhatia return for a musical sequence, citing the popularity of her performance in the original film. The sequel features a large ensemble cast and music by Anirudh Ravichander.
