Rajnath Singh warns Pakistan that Sindhu River water will be cut off over terrorism

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told a gathering in Telangana that New Delhi will not allow water from the Sindhu (Indus) River to reach those who support terrorism in Pakistan. Referring to the 2022 Pul‑Gulam attack and the earlier suspension of the Indus water treaty, he said India could halt the supply of water and grain to Pakistan if terrorist attacks continue.

Singh also praised the Indian army’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ and criticized opposition leaders, stating that the government’s budget is focused on national security. The remarks underscore rising tension over the water‑sharing agreement that governs the flow of the Sindhu, Ravi, Sutlej, and other rivers between the two neighbours.
