Rakeen Sa'ad prepares for role in film ‘Buma’

Jordanian actress Rakeen Sa'ad underwent extensive preparation for her lead role in the film ‘Buma’, a performance that earned her the Best Actress award at the El Gouna Film Festival. To portray a character living in a harsh environment within a popular neighborhood in Amman, Sa'ad moved away from her typical calm roles to embody a woman who uses dominance as a means of survival.

Her preparation included six months of intensive training in handling knives and physical conditioning to ensure authenticity on camera. Sa'ad also worked with physical trainers, underwent multiple makeup tests, and practiced specific local dialects. To deepen her understanding of the character's social and economic circumstances, she spent time researching the lives of girls living in marginalized urban areas and interacting with people in similar environments.
