WRC Rally Paraguay 2026: Preparations underway in Itapúa

Paraguay is finalizing preparations for the WRC Rally Paraguay 2026, scheduled for August 27–30 in the Itapúa department. The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has improved approximately 300 kilometers of roads and implemented special traffic restrictions for heavy vehicles to ensure safety and flow during the event.

To support the local economy, the National Service for Professional Promotion (SNPP) has certified 993 residents in 17 districts, providing training in tourism, gastronomy, and digital tools. Additionally, the Universidad Nacional de Itapúa (UNI), in coordination with Rediex and Senatur, is launching a study involving over 50 researchers to measure the event's socio-economic and environmental impact through 2,000 surveys.

Sustainability is a key focus, as the rally aims to be the first WRC event in Latin America to offset its carbon footprint using domestic forestry credits. Security measures include a specialized operation by the Patrulla Caminera, deploying 120 inspectors and various patrol vehicles to manage traffic and ensure participant safety.
