German Eurovision Composer Ralph Siegel Remains in Artificial Coma

German music producer and Eurovision songwriter Ralph Siegel, 80, is being treated in an artificial (pharmacological) coma at the Harlaching clinic in Munich after a severe lung infection. His family confirmed the situation in an Instagram post, stating that he is intubated but can already breathe unaided and that they are “looking forward to the coming days” with optimism.

Siegel’s wife Laura, along with daughters Giulia and Alana, said the entire family is together and focused on his recovery, asking the public to respect their privacy. Doctors plan to attempt to awaken him within the next couple of days. The composer, known for hits such as “Ein bisschen Frieden,” has previously battled prostate cancer, other cancers, and a chronic nerve disorder (polyneuropathy).
