Ralph Siegel recovering after 18-day medically induced coma
German music producer and composer Ralph Siegel is recovering after spending approximately 18 days in a medically induced coma due to severe pneumonia. The 80-year-old is expected to be discharged from the hospital shortly, with plans to enter a rehabilitation clinic to continue his recovery.
Despite his progress, Siegel reported experiencing intense pain in his hips and legs. He noted that his existing condition, polyneuropathy, has been exacerbated by the coma. He described the physical challenges, including muscle weakness and difficulty standing independently.
Siegel expressed gratitude toward his physician, Michael Weis, and noted that his family and work have been significant motivators during his illness. He also revealed that he conceived an idea for a new song for the Eurovision Song Contest while in the coma and intends to return to the competition after a ten-year absence.
