Italy implements healthcare infrastructure and emergency service upgrades

Several Italian regions are implementing significant upgrades to healthcare infrastructure and emergency services. In Lombardy, a new Advanced Medical Rescue in Impervious Environments (SAAI) service has been launched. This initiative, a collaboration between the regional government, AREU, and the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps, allows specialized medical teams to provide care in difficult terrains, such as mountains or caves, where traditional ambulances or helicopters cannot reach.

In the Modena province, the Ramazzini Hospital in Carpi has completed the majority of a maintenance plan funded by the Azienda USL di Modena. The project, involving nearly one million euros, included repairing main access stairs, restoring flooring, replacing UPS systems for operating rooms, and waterproofing roofs for several departments including Gynecology and Surgery.

In Abruzzo, the San Salvatore Hospital in L'Aquila is undergoing reorganization to strengthen emergency services. Planned improvements include additional intensive observation beds, a new pediatric emergency area, and an interventional radiology department to better manage time-dependent pathologies.
