Ramganga River flooding causes heavy crop and land losses in Moradabad

Rising water levels in the Ramganga River, driven by heavy rainfall, have caused significant flooding in several villages within the Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, India. The flooding has led to widespread panic among residents as water encroaches upon farmland and orchards.

Local villagers report substantial agricultural devastation, including the destruction of mango orchards and the loss of crops. In some instances, residents have attempted to tie trees together to prevent them from being uprooted by the current. One resident reported losing approximately 14-15 bighas of land, with estimated financial damages reaching at least Rs 20-25 lakh.

While local authorities are monitoring the river levels, no formal statement regarding relief or rehabilitation measures has been issued by officials. Residents have appealed to the district administration for urgent assistance and compensation for their losses.
