Ramgarh road accident kills one and injures five
A fatal road accident occurred in the Chuttupalu Valley of Ramgarh district, Jharkhand, on Sunday when a container truck collided with a Honda car. According to police, the container's brakes failed while traveling from Ranchi toward Ramgarh, causing it to crash into the vehicle ahead. The impact was severe, leaving the car crushed under the container.
The victims included members of the family of Ramgarh DSP Akram Raza. Sara Tabassum, 45, died at the scene, while five other family members—Firoz Rahi, Tarja Saliya, Sifta Tajmin, Amira Tajmin, and Anuja Tabassum—sustained injuries. Emergency responders used cranes and hydra machinery to extract the passengers, including a young girl who was trapped for approximately 30 minutes.
Local residents refer to the Chuttupalu Valley as the ‘valley of death’ due to frequent accidents involving speeding and heavy vehicles. The incident has raised renewed questions regarding the road safety measures implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
