Ramón Mestre challenges UCR Córdoba internal elections in court

The internal conflict within the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) in Córdoba has moved into the judicial sphere. Ramón Mestre, former president of the National Committee, has filed a lawsuit with the Electoral Justice of Córdoba to challenge the party's internal election process held on March 10.

Mestre's legal action questions the validity of the elections, citing alleged irregularities in the voter registry and the distribution of polling stations. He is seeking to suspend the proclamation of new party authorities, which was scheduled for April 1, stating that all internal party avenues have been exhausted.

The dispute centers on control of the provincial leadership, pitting Mestre's 'Más Radicalismo' alliance against the faction led by current provincial committee president Marcos Carasso. Recent rulings from the Party Electoral Board have favored the 'Generación X' group, leaving Mestre's faction in a compromised position.

Representatives for the officialist list, including attorney Jorge Folloni, have dismissed the claims, asserting that the elections were conducted normally under proper supervision. The court has ten business days to decide on the requested precautionary measures.
