Ramos Arizpe expands citizen safety committees to over 5,000 participants

The municipal government of Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, has increased its citizen safety committees to more than 100 groups, encompassing over 5,000 residents. Secretary of the City Council Alejandro González Farías said the expansion follows mayor Tomás Gutiérrez Merino’s directive to strengthen preventive surveillance across all neighborhoods and industrial zones.

The committees now include not only local residents but also teachers, traders, taxi drivers, company staff and security personnel from industrial parks. Continuous coordination with the Public Security Directorate and the Industrial Police enables rapid response to incidents, with the nearest unit dispatched based on reports. The city has also equipped security forces with new vehicles, armaments and a C2 command center to improve technological monitoring.
