Ramos Arizpe fire services log 4,650 interventions and 44 fires in 2026

The Ramos Arizpe (Coahuila) Civil Protection and Fire Department recorded more than 4,650 service calls during 2026, covering medical emergencies, traffic accidents, fires and other incidents. Mayor Tomás Gutiérrez Merino praised the crews, highlighting their round‑the‑clock readiness and promising better equipment and working conditions.

In the same period the department responded to 44 fire incidents, including 27 house fires, 13 in abandoned dwellings and four rooftop blazes. Officials warned that many fires in vacant homes are deliberately set after people store garbage and ignite it, while the second leading cause is electrical short‑circuits. With the summer vacation season underway, the department urged residents to check wiring, avoid overloading outlets and, if leaving homes unattended, to disconnect appliances or switch off the main power supply to reduce fire risk.
