Celtic and Rangers secure narrow wins amid Rangers injury crisis

In the Scottish Premiership, Celtic and Rangers both secured narrow 1-0 victories to maintain their momentum. Celtic secured their sixth consecutive league win with a goal from summer signing Mika Baur against St Johnstone. Despite dominating possession and creating significant expected goals, Celtic manager Martin O'Neill noted that the team must improve before their upcoming Old Firm clash.

Rangers achieved a late 1-0 win over St Mirren thanks to a 91st-minute strike from Bojan Miovski. However, manager Derek McInnes is facing a significant squad depth crisis due to multiple injuries. Captain Lawrence Shankland is expected to be sidelined for approximately three months with a hamstring tear. Other unavailable players include Daisuke Yokota, Kosta Nedeljkovic, Youssef Chermiti, and Tuur Rommens.

The two rivals are scheduled to meet this Sunday in a Premier Sports Cup quarter-final, followed by a Premiership match a week later.
