Rapeseed yields in Poland face decline due to adverse weather

The 2025/2026 winter rapeseed season in Poland was characterized by extreme weather volatility and significant yield discrepancies. Adverse conditions included an exceptionally wet autumn, a freezing winter lacking protective snow cover, May frosts during the flowering stage, and spring droughts.

According to data from the Central Plant Variety Research Institute (COBORU) and Post-Registration Variety Testing (PDO), the standard yield was 40.5 dt/ha, a decrease of approximately 10.6% compared to the previous year. On individual farms, yields varied drastically, ranging from over 4 t/ha to as low as 0.5 t/ha.

Despite the difficult season, COBORU's preliminary research into new varieties not yet in the Polish National Register identified several high-potential candidates. Hybrid varieties such as Hemma, Invigor 2060, and Hindiana showed strong performance, achieving yields of 111% to 113% of the standard benchmark.
