Raphaël Glucksmann launches first presidential rally in Aubervilliers, draws 3‑4 000 supporters
On 13 June 2026, Euro‑deputy Raphaël Glucksmann held his inaugural campaign meeting at the Docks de Paris in Aubervilliers, Seine‑Saint‑Denis. Organisers claim an audience of between 3 000 and 4 000 people, a notable turnout for a candidate who has not yet formally declared his bid for the 2027 French presidency.
Glucksmann used the event to position himself as the leader of a reformist, social‑democratic left, aiming to unite the Socialist Party and the Greens against both the far‑right National Rally and the more radical La France Insoumise. He announced a “new patriotic contract” focused on economic sovereignty, ecological transition, and a progressive digital agenda. He singled out tech giants – Elon Musk, Sam Altman and Zhang Yiming – as “enemies” whose algorithms “enslave our consciences,” promising to build French‑European technological sovereignty and to ban targeted advertising.
The programme also featured proposals such as a tax on large fortunes, a €100‑per‑month lease for electric cars for low‑income households, and higher wages and better working conditions. High‑profile guests included former ministers Bernard Kouchner and Marisol Touraine, actress Bérénice Bejo, and climate economist Laurence Tubiana. The rally is seen as a test of Glucksmann’s ability to rally the moderate left ahead of a possible primary with the Socialist Party.
