Raphaël Glucksmann to join union protests in France

Social-democratic presidential candidate Raphaël Glucksmann announced he will participate in Thursday's union demonstrations to address the issue of low wages. Glucksmann stated that many workers currently do not earn enough to live with dignity.

As part of his campaign platform, Glucksmann proposed reducing the CSG tax on salaries. He estimates this would provide an additional 100 euros per month for a median salary earner and 83 euros for those earning the minimum wage (Smic). To fund this measure, he intends to increase taxation on large inheritances.

Glucksmann also addressed the hostile reception he has faced from radical left-wing militants, specifically mentioning the Insoumis party. He described their actions as hateful propaganda that creates a detestable atmosphere but asserted that he will not be intimidated by such behavior.

Regarding recent student mobilizations, Glucksmann expressed understanding of the students' desire to continue their movement. He criticized the government's response as being too late and vague, noting that the executive must prove its commitments during the upcoming budget debate.
